Paper Towns
by John Green

Quentin Jacobsen, 17, has been in love with his next-door neighbor, Margo Roth Spiegelman, for his entire life. A leader at their Central Florida high school, she has carefully cultivated her ‘bad-ass’ image. Quentin is one of the smart kids. His parents are therapists and he is, above all things, “goddamned well adjusted.”

He takes a rare risk when Margo appears at his window in the middle of the night. They drive around righting wrongs via her brilliant, elaborate pranks. Then she runs away (again). He slowly uncovers the depth of her unhappiness and the vast differences between the real and imagined Margo.

Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares
by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn

Dash and Lily, 16, find themselves on their own in Manhattan at Christmas. Dash is alone by choice –he’s told each of his divorced parents that he’s spending the holiday with the other, leaving them both to take vacations out of town.

Lily’s parents are taking the honeymoon they couldn’t afford when they got married. They think that Lily is in the capable hands of her older brother, but he’s less interested in her than in his new boyfriend, and then he gets sick and spends most of the holiday in bed.
He does, however, start in motion the activity that is central to the story. It involves a red Moleskine notebook with a list of literary clues that Lily leaves in the stacks at the Strand bookstore. Bookish and erudite Dash finds it and is intrigued enough to follow Lily’s lead and leave some clues of his own. The dares in the book’s title refer to innocent things such as going to various crowded places like Macy’s and FAO Schwartz to pick up messages. As the dares go on, the teens reveal more and more about themselves in the pages of the notebook, until they finally meet under the worst possible circumstances.
Found (The Missing-Book 1)
by Margaret Peterson Haddix

A plane arrives at an airline gate unnoticed by radar and most personnel. There are no flight attendants, no pilot, in fact no adults at all, but there are 36 passengers. Each seat is inhabited by an infant. Thirteen years later in Ohio, teenage adoptees Jonah and his friend Chip begin receiving ominous messages declaring that they are among “the missing” and that someone is coming to find them. Frightened yet intrigued, the boys begin a search for their real identities with the help of Jonah’s younger sister. Their search leads them to a discovery that strains credulity and leads them into danger greater than they ever imagined possible.
Thirteen-year-old Jonah has always known that he was adopted, and he’s never thought it was any big deal. Then he and a new friend, Chip, who’s also adopted, begin receiving mysterious letters. The first one says, “You are one of the missing.” The second one says, “Beware! They’re coming back to get you. “Jonah, Chip, and Jonah’s sister, Katherine, are plunged into a mystery that involves the FBI, a vast smuggling operation, an airplane that appeared out of nowhere — and people who seem to appear and disappear at will. The kids discover they are caught in a battle between two opposing forces that want very different things for Jonah and Chip’s lives.
